One Local Everyday Adventure: Perkasie Carousel

On Memorial Day, we took an adventure that I had been hoping to do for a while now.  We made the thirteen mile trip down route 309 to the town on Perkasie, which is located in the upper western edge of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. I have been to Perkasie many times and I had even been to Menlo Park several times but I have never been to the Carousel in Menlo Park.
The Perkasie Carousel in Menlo Park is a quintessential slice of Americana.    Check out these prices!  Also veterans rode for free on Memorial Day!
It has been lovingly restored by the Perkasie Historical Society and costs a whopping $0.35 per ride.  It looks like it is housed in its original building and it is completely staffed by volunteers.   The cute volunteers staff a table where paper tickets are sold as well as a souvenir table and refreshment stand with canned soda and bags of chips.
It is also only open during 9 days during the year so it takes some planning to get there on the right day.
When we visited the park on Monday, we got there towards the end of its 11-5 pm operating hours so we were only there for 2 rides worth of fun.  However, the final ride of the day, which Mr. Katie and Mr. Man rode together, was 15 minutes long.

If you live in the Lehigh Valley area or Bucks County,  I would recommend a visit to the carousel.  It is located in a large park with a scenic walking trail, dog park, and playground. Also one side of the carousal building faces a very nice water park complete with watersides and large swimming pool.  Click here for the carousal schedule.  Click here for pool information.
The town of Perkasie is cute and even has its own microbrewery called Free Will Brewing Company.
