What’s Up Katie? Part 1

Hi Everyone, I am back.  You might be asking, Katie, why haven’t we heard from you in a while.  What have you been up to?

Well, last year I found that my writing really drops off in August and September.  In August, you could think of me like a member of Congress, I take off the whole month.  In September, I find that it is hard to get going again with everything in my life.  Blogging is me doing my self-actualization thing, so it comes last after all my other needs are met.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.  Blogging is at the top, after all the other stuff is done.

So what have I been up to?

In August, we traveled to western Pennsylvania to visit family and to introduce Baby Nugget to the members of his family who he had yet to meet.  On the Sunday of that week, we had a family picnic at Laurel Hill State Park.

Baby Nugget got to meet many people on the trip out west including his older cousin H. who was completely smitten with him.  Here she is holding him.

We also went to the Pittsburgh Zoo.

Mr. Man and Mr. Katie at the P’burgh Zoo.  Notice the Amish photobomb in the background, whoops.

We also visited one of my favorite amusement parks from childhood, Idlewild Park and Soak Zone.  While we were there, we took in a Daniel Tiger show and rode the trolley to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

Here I am posing with Mr. Man and his cousin H. as well as Katerina Kitty Cat and Daniel Tiger.

We also visited my Grandma, who met Baby Nugget for the first time.

Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of my Grandmother holding Baby Nugget. But I did get a  picture of her with Mr. Man!
Baby Nugget was a very good passenger during all of our traveling.

Besides traveling to western Pennsylvania, we also visited Lincoln Financial Field, where the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles play.  Our tour was arranged by the Pennsylvania Library Association Southeast Chapter, which I am a member of.  Our visit happened on the Saturday before the preseason practices started.  Needless to say, “The Linc” was bustling with activity that day.

One of the areas we most enjoyed seeing on our tour was the press room.  Here I am doing my best Bill Cower face (I know he was not an Eagles coach, but I am Steelers fan first).
Mr. Katie and Baby Nugget in the Eagles locker room.  It was very exciting to be in the locker room.  I tried to get a picture of the actual restroom but I was deterred by our very affable tour guide.  If only I could have taken some pictures of the bathrooms, those would have made the best bathroom blog post ever!!!

I have limited time right now, so I will have to fill you in on the rest of my summer/ fall break at a later time.  It is so great to be blogging again.  Thank you for you reading.

What did you do during your summer vacation?
