Last Christmas we visited with my husband’s sister and her family and his parents in Rhode Island for several days. We had a nice time visiting with family and checking out the local scenery. While we were there we had an opportunity to visit the Christmas Festival of Lights at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette in Attleboro, Massachusetts. It is just minutes from the Rhode Island border and it was the most amazing Christmas Light Display I have ever seen in my life.
All of the lights are liturgical in nature and as far as I remember there are no Santa Clauses and definitely no movie characters represented. It was all magnificent. The parking is free and the parking lot is huge. The entire grounds of the Nation Shrine are huge. Viewing the Christmas Light Show is also free. There are daily mass on site and groups come on buses to view the lights. Choirs travel to the shrine to sing during the masses and view the lights.
I wanted to write this post to encourage travelers to go to the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette if you are traveling along I-95 in Massachusetts or Rhode Island this Christmas season. You will not be disappointed. I would like to go back and see it again. I found it to be very impressive.
