Mama’s got a new side hustle.
Yes, I am still working at my very part-time public librarian job.
Yes, I am still doing Quizzo as part of my part-time public librarian job.
But now I also have a brand new gig! Recently I started a very part-time, community college library assistant gig. Seven hours a week!
It is pretty sweet actually. I feel very lucky to have found it because outside of my college work study gig as a computer lab attendant, this is the least demanding job that I have ever had. I am a little worried that my new boss might read this, but also I think she knows that.
Don’t quote me on this ,but I think I am going to do a whole lot more blogging in the coming months.
However, while I was at my sweet new side hustle, I started thinking about how I want to start a Quizzo / Pub Trivia company. Well, not actually a company but I want to secure a weekly or bi-weekly trivia host gig.
You see, I have all these trivia questions that Mr. Katie and I have written in the past year and it just seems like a waste to sit on them all. Trivia nights are really fun and I think it would be great to have a more frequent trivia gig.
When Mr. Katie and I moved to the area we live in now, we dreamed about starting a Quizzo company because we couldn’t find a trivia night that we enjoyed. Sometimes larger companies run them and the questions aren’t always very good or challenging. I like a trivia night that is well constructed and written and delivered by someone who cares about the game.
It took us months before we found a good place to play. To those of you in the general area, check out The Perk in Perkasie on Thursday nights. Tom Shields, the host, is the model of what I think trivia night at a restaurant should be.
So we wanted to start a Quizzo business but then I got a full-time job and we sort of forgot about the idea. But then I started doing Quizzo at the library last year and it re-ignited our fire for starting a quizzo company.
So it sound great because all those Quizzo questions won’t go to waste and it is fun.
But also we have very little free time right now anyway and we have other family priorities like: exercise, kids, blogging, sleeping and watching TV in bed before sleep.
So I guess what I am saying is I was thinking about this all in the shower this morning and I also realized that I might not want a weekly quizzo gig.
Is that bad?
I could be really fun but it also might just be a time suck.
I have questions written now but writing future questions takes time. It might get old after a while. I am more of a game constructor and question writer than a host (though my monthly quizzo attendees seem to like me).
Also when I think of who I want to be in 20 years, I think that I want to be a parent, librarian, and writer. I like quizzo but I don’t know how it fits into my life plan.
I was going to write a post today about silly side hustles and this is what the post turned into.
Do you have an evening gig or a side hustle. Tell me about it in the comments section. I am interested.
Cheers,
Katie
