Some people have asked me, “What activities are the boys participating in this fall?”
Here are the details
This school year both boys are participating in Cub Scouts. Mr. Man is a Bear Cub and H. Nugget is a Tiger Cub. Cub Scouts start this week so soon I will know more about what that means for our family. Mr. Katie is also going to be an assistant den leader this year.
In terms of religious education, for the first time ever, both boys will be attending catechism this fall. At our parish the CCD program is called Prep. Mr. Man will be receiving his First Holy Communion in the spring of 2025. I will be a teaching assistant with H. Nugget’s Prep class this school year. We haven’t started yet for the school year but I know it will be an adventure.
Fall sports for youth have started for the season. This fall both boys are participating the CYO cross country Team that they became involved in through our church. The team practices 3 times a week and so far the boys have participated in one cross country meet. In Mr. Man’s age group, the 3rd and 4th graders, the runners race for one mile at the meets. In H. Nugget’s age group, kindergarten through 2nd graders, the runner race for a half a mile at the meets.
Here are two picture from the boy’s cross country meet last weekend.
We were so proud of them. They both ran hard in their races. They both seemed to be proud of themselves when the race was over. It also seemed like they both had a good time.
Mr. Katie is also training for a half marathon that takes place in November.
I am working a little more than I have worked in a while. This is something that as a family we are all still getting used to. On Tuesday, I drove about 1.25 hours away, in each direction, to a different job site for some additional training for my community college job. I learned a lot and that made the trip worth it. However, it also helped me to remember that in general I do not commuting long distances for work. It is good sometimes to be reminded of who you are at the core.
Busy, busy, busy. Your Dad would be so proud of the boys in scouting- he was always a Scout! Looks like everyone is happy and busy- so glad the boys enjoy running cross country. It can be a family event.
