Friends,
I have been kind of busy in 2025. I don’t know if you have noticed, but there have been fewer posts than normal so far this year. You might have been asking yourself, what’s up with my girl Katie.
Well, all kinds of things. We got a new dog named Tracker, as you have seen in my last post. Photo credit from the boys and Tracker picture goes to Mr. Katie who was previously uncredited. Thank you Mr. Katie for that great snap.
Confession: I wasn’t even home the day that picture was taken because I was at my public library job. But the boys and Mr. Katie had a wonderful time taking Tracker around town.
Which brings me to my next point, one of the things that was occupying my time in 2025 has been working more than usual. During the months of December, January and February, I had been working three jobs. Mind you, they all smallish part-time jobs.
However, as winter progressed, work started to feel a bit consuming. I was having a hard time striking a balance between my three workplaces and managing of things at home. Also our household, like everyone else’s house seemed have sicknesses this winter.
So I decided to quit the newest of my jobs because, while I didn’t mind going, wasn’t contributing that much to my quality of life and the goals that envisioned for myself.
Anyway, I have a backlog of pictures of everyday adventures from the past few months that I plan to post in the coming future. I think this will make me feel like our slate is clean and I can post adventures and thoughts as they arise.
Here is an everyday adventure from earlier in 2025.
We made sushi at our house in mid-February!
I learned to make sushi from one of my fellow program instructors when I taught environmental education at a camp and conference center when I was in my mid-20’s. Back then, we used to have sushi rolling parties where everyone helped to make rolls and hang out. It was a big undertaking for the person who organized it, but we always had a lot of fun doing it. It is one of my core memories from that time in my life.
Community living is awesome!
This February, I decided that I should buy a sushi making set online and that my family and I should give it a try in our own house.

Here are the results and a chopstick using lesson from Mr. Katie.

Great success!
Fun! We love Sushi
