Pictures from the Redesigned Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown,PA

Check out Mr. Man’s rocks that he polished him self with is rock tumbler. This picture was also taken on President’s Day.

On President’s Day 2025, we visit visited the newly reopened Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown, PA.

Last May, the Da Vinci Science Center moved from its previous location, near Cedar Crest College to PPL pavilion in downtown Allentown, next door to where the Lehigh Valley Phantoms play their hockey games. Downtown Allentown is becoming quite the place to be again.

When the boys were younger, especially before Nugget was born, we used to visit the Da Vinci Science Center (in its old location) often. I believe that we had a membership for a few years. Mr. Man used to run full-speed through the mostly 1st floor location many, many times. I don’t think that we were the favorite patrons of the college students who staffed the admissions desk. Then we (I) kind of got tired of the exhibits and the boys got more involved in other things. So I sort of forgot about it.

Then in February, we had another four day weekend. I was grasping for something to do because the weather was very cold during the stretch and we had already had a few long stretches of time off from school because of the weather and a four day MLK Day weekend in January. I solicited Mr. Katie’s suggestions for a President’s Day activity and he reminded me about how the Da Vinci Science Center recently reopened in downtown Allentown.

All I can say is color me impressed!

The Da Vinci Science Center is now located very close to the Spiral Deck at 820-836 West Linden Street. We parked there. It made walking from our car to the museum very convenient (especially because it was a super cold and windy day when we visited). Here is the official parking information from the website.

In their new location, the admissions staff got a lot more professional and a lot more friendly! I thought that I lost my keys while I was there (silly Katie) and the staff radio each other and were very kind and helpful. (Luckily, they were just in a different area of my purse).

There were also a number of interactive exhibits that kept both boys entertained all day.

One of the boys favorite areas was the Lehigh Valley Watershed area on the 2nd floor.

I was very into this turtle that is native to Pennsylvania Waterways.

Nugget really enjoyed this interactive playground that is part of the My Body Exhibit. To learn about the exhibits, click here.

Nugget’s favorite Mack truck (from the old location) is still on display, but you can’t sit in it any longer. Still, it was one of his favorite parts of the science center.

Great times were had by all. We will be back again soon! I highly recommend it if you are in the Lehigh Valley area and you have school aged children.
