This past weekend, we took our first camping trip of the year in our pop up camper. We traveled about an hour and half away to the Pocono Mountains and visited Promised Land State Park. Since getting a camper, we make an almost yearly trip to Promised Land. It is one of our favorite parks.

We got kind of a late start to our weekend because we had buckets of rain fall on Friday so we decided to postpone our departure to Saturday morning. Also we left closer to noon on Saturday since we put off packing until Saturday morning.

Beechwood area, the campground we stayed in (there are six separate camping areas at Promised Land) was fairly well attended for mid-May. We had a reservation for our campsite, but since the area experienced a large amount of rainfall last week, our campsite was a bit waterlogged. We kept the site that we reserved last month, but since nobody was occupying the site across the road, we used that site as a place to hang out since ours was rather wet.

Usually when we visited Promised Land, we like to hike and fish. Promised Land has two lakes, and campers can stay very close to both lakes. It makes it very convenient if you just want to pop over the the lake for a quick fishing session. (In fact, if you scroll the bottom of this post, you can see our pictures from last year’s Promised Land trip).

On this trip, we didn’t do much hiking or fishing. We really only left the campground on an attempted hike on Saturday afternoon. But the bugs were biting too much and the trail that we tried to hike called Little Falls, was a little too close to the creek, after the rain last week, to leave us feeling comfortable. Also there was a lot of whining so we abandoned our hike.
So what did we do on this camping trip? We did a lot of hanging out. It was nice. Mr. Man did some whittling. Both boys did some scootering. They made some campground friends. Mr. Katie made us breakfast burritos on Mother’s Day morning. The weather was beautiful, there were blue skies and plenty of sun. It was a little chilly in the evening but it felt good to sleep in the camper with the heater on.

Also this trip was Tracker’s first family campout with us. He did well. We worried that he might be scared by noises at night but he was very relaxed and seemed to enjoy himself.

Here is a picture of the guys taking down the camper before we left. I felt like a queen. I sat at the other campsite and petting Tracker almost the entire time. Happy Mother’s Day to me!

Happy Mother’s Day Katie!
Oh you had a nice wet Mother’s Day. We went to a Ballet which was very good. The walk from train station was a fine hike for me.
