What We’ve Have Been Up To In 10 Pictures

Last weekend we visited Dorney Park during the daytime for some fall fun. The boys dressed up and trick-or-treated.

Mr. Katie and I also got a chance to ride some rides.

Here are some pictures of the boys in their costumes from earlier this month. Nugget is a police officer and Mr. Man is either Harry Potter on the weekends or Mr. Man if he were a student at Hogwarts (probably also on the weekends; he has no interest in the formality of school-day dress at Hogwarts).

I didn’t wear my Halloween costume to Dorney Park, but if you missed my post, here is a link to pictures of my costume. The concept of my costume is based on a book too!

We went apple picking for the final time last weekend. I found the apples to be very beautiful on the trees. I believe that the tree in the picture has Fuji Apples on it. My favorite apples to look at on the trees were the McIntosh, though I didn’t get a picture of them. They had a beautiful red striated pattern on them. I made a lovely apple crisp out of them on Wednesday, my second apple crisp of the season.

Perhaps, I will try to make baked apples soon. When Mr. Man was very little, we read a repeatedly read a picture book about Snow White making baked apples with Dopey, the dwarf. Dopey, of course, made a blunder in baking the recipe. Silly Dopey! Mr. Katie and I still remember the book and talk about it, strangely enough. (But not Mr. Man). However, remembering gets the idea in my head every year that I ought to make baked apples and serve them with clotted cream, like they did in the story. So maybe this is the year.

Also, I wanted to show you the outfit that Nugget wore to the apple orchard. This is an outfit of his own choosing. I guess he is in the holiday spirit already!

I am showing your these book pictures because the end of the year is the biggest season of the year for book releases. Mr. Man was excited about the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book called Partypooper that came out earlier this month. We are all excited about the new Dog Man book called Big Jim Believes. It is being released on November 11th.

Mr. Katie and I are also super excited about the final installment of the Book of Dust series called The Rose Field. It was released on October 23rd. We are both taking an approach of reading and listening because it is such a long book, 672 pages long! Also the audio book is a real treat. It is read by Oscar nominated actor Michael Sheen. His reading is extremely expressive. I highly recommend the listening to the entire Book of Dust series because he reads all of them and he is such fun.

Readers, I wanted to tell you one thing: I am thinking about starting a new blog. I would like to start a book blog but I am still working out the details. I think that it will be separate from this blog and I might market it and take a different approach. I want to do a little research before I get started. I feel like my book blog should focus on a particular genre, but I am still narrowing down its focus. Maybe books that you would find in a public library, I don’t know. To me that still seems too board. What would like to read about?

I will keep writing this blog too, of course, I have sometimes felt like maybe I might want to separate my everyday adventures and my writing about books.
