Blue Mountain Vineyards & Cellars: 13th Best in the Nation!

When I first saw the front of the building, I thought it was kind of funny. . . (Blue Mountain Vineyards & Cellars) Ranked 13th Best Winery in the Nation .

Just before Thanksgiving, I saw their store, which is just outside of the Lehigh Valley Mall had this statement is engraved on their exterior! Very cool!

The things is that you don’t often see businesses mentioning that they are the 13th best anything. What you do hear in slogans is about places or things that claim they are the best:

Gillette: The Best a Man Can Get

Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth

Or sometimes businesses get really bold and even claim they are the best in their name.

The Country’s Best Yogurt: TCBY (for those of us who even remember TCBY)

That’s why when I saw the front of the Blue Mountain Winery Retail Store, I thought that it was a little funny that 13th Best was prominently displayed.

(In retrospect, I shouldn’t have been so quick to judge, because there are a lot of wineries in the nation. 13th best winery is impressive. Also, I know from pre-parenthood life that Blue Mountain has good wine. I highly recommend visiting their tasting room in New Tripoli, PA. Get the cheese plate to go with your wine. You will not be disappointed! They might still have a Groupon available).

But these pictures that I want to share with you today, tell a different story. I told my boys why I wanted to take a picture and they wanted to be in the picture. So I asked them to hold up 13 fingers to help illustrate my point.

But it became a whole big thing.

It became a kerfuffle about who was going to hold up which number of fingers.

By the time they figured out how to represent 13, we were all tired of it.

I did not even end up getting a picture with both their fingers representing 13 and the words on the side of the building. But hey. . . we have fun and they did end up figuring out how to do 13 in the end.

Have a good Wednesday!
