Halloween in our town came early. We had had trick

Halloween in our town came early. We had had trick-or-treating last Friday night. All my pictures are too dark. But we went to Boo at the Zoo last Saturday and we all had fun. P is Dipper Pines from Gravity Falls for the 3rd year. H. is a police officer.
A magical and serendipitous event happened at the zoo. P met three other Dippers. He has never met another child dressed up as Dipper in all this time. The four Dippers then proceeded to hang out and play together for about half and hour, until we told him that it was time to move on to check out some more of the zoo. They were instant friends. It was like he found a tribe of Dippers.
H. as usual had a great time too. He also liked playing with the Dippers.

Last weekend we took a nice trip to the cottages at Laurel Hill State Park to share a fall weekend with family. Here are some of the scenery pictures. The leaves are not at their peak but they looked great. The Laurel Highlands are one of the best places to leaf peep says USA Today.

Today would have been my parent's 50th wedding ann

Today would have been my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. September 21, 1974, Pittsburgh, PA. It is their first anniversary together in heaven. I thank them for all the love they put out into the world and all the love they gave me and my sisters.
They were very often smiling.
Thanks to my sister Liz for the nice post on Facebook yesterday and the pictures including this one.

I also like that even though they got married on September 21st, they never seemed to have any particular affinity for the Earth, Wind, and Fire song September.

These are my metamorphically accurate photos of my

These are my metamorphically accurate photos of my life right now, taken at the Philadelphia Zoo on Wednesday. In the first picture, they boys are fighting like they do in the pouch. (I am the kangaroo, they are the joeys). What you cannot see if that the kangaroo is having a existential crisis because the youngest kangaroo is starting school full day for the first time on Monday. In the second picture, they are riding away on their metamorphical train, which is represented by a children's train at the zoo, because they are moving on to the next grade in school, and thus further away from me. The third picture isn't metamorphically anything, it is a moment when they are acting sweet and are still in the pouch. That one is for me. I sound jokey in this post, but I am experiencing these things in real time. I planned to stay home (minus a little part-time librarian-ing) with these kids and now they are going to school fulltime. What now? (Note: I am kind of happy for them to go back after spending much time together all summer). Are you having a back to school existential crisis?

One high of the "big stones" of our summer was Mr. Man participating in the swim team at our local community pool @soleco_pool It was a pretty steep learning curve for the whole family but it ended up being a lot of fun for us all. The @soleco_pool has been part of our family's summer since 2016 when we first joined as members. I would say that @soleco_pool has gotten us through some tough summers; it was maybe our major source of fun during the pandemic summer of 2020. Right now though they are facing a capital shortfall and are in need of help. Go to their website to donate if you so choose.

One morning after sleeping in the camper in our yard, the boys and I traveled to Doylestown and took a tour of Fonthill Castle @mercerandfonthill
We used the museum pass that we borrowed from our local public library @slehighpl to admit us for free. Score! Thanks @slehighpl It has so many cool tiles as the owner and builder was also a renowned tilemaker. I tried taking pictures of dark corners and the ceilings but I didn't see any orbs.The boys liked the hour long tour but were getting rammy towards the end. I can usually get them to do about one or two of these cultural type things that I want to do per summer. Usually a playground bride and treat usually are required. But H. Nugget told me today that he "liked the castle."
