Lately, I have been putting a lot of though into the labor and delivery of new baby. I know that labor and delivery isn’t scripted and does not necessarily play out the way one plans for it to go. Even so, I have decided that this time I want to have a labor playlist that I can listen to while getting in touch with my inner goddess.
From what I read online about labor playlists, songs that are fairly instrumental might be helpful for breathing through contractions, so I tried to choose some of my favorite songs with long instrumental parts. I also tried to stay away from songs that were “too cute” about labor and delivery, like Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It”, because I think it would just end up annoying me. I also tried to choose music that made me real empowered like “The Warrior” which I loved hearing on the Netflix show GLOW. Some of the songs are old favorites that were on my gym workout mix like Queen’s “Under Pressure”, which I realized that I forgot to add but will be adding it right now.
Lately, I have been finding myself listening to a lot of Sarah McLachlan music on my iPod. Maybe I am getting in touch with my feminine, earth-mother spirit in order to get ready for this rite of passage, I don’t know. I have not included any of her music on my Labor Playlist Draft, but I might add it this list before the big day.
The playlist isn’t in order. I will probably put it on shuffle or maybe I will make an order but feel free to skip songs if they don’t fit the situation.
