2. If your mom isn’t into sports, how about bringing her a berry pie during the Merry Berry Month of May? (You know who you are, you geriatric millennials, Gen-Xers and Boomers; I am sure this commercial is still living rent-free in your brain somewhere ).

4. Or if she is too frownie for a Frownie, how about bringing her a gumband full of cash and taking her to the casino? I have it on good report that The Rivers, The Meadows, Nemacolin, Live in Greensburg, and even Rocky Gap in Maryland are all a great day out for Mom. Remember there’s no frowning in gambling!

5. Mom’s love decorative things. How about a 12 pack of IC bottles cooling in a decorative metal bucket? IC light now comes in Mango, perfect for Mother’s Day.

5 1/2. Pick up this decorative metal bucket a Walmart for around three dollars. Write a sweet message and fill with ice.

6. Help Mom decorate her living room with nature. Get her a 32″ Smart TV from Walmart for $118.00 and give Mom the gift of streaming the Hays, PA Eagles’ Nest in the comfort of her own living room. What Mom wouldn’t want to have her view of an Eagles’ nest at her beck and call?

7. Mom can’t find her pickle pin? You can order them here for the low price of $5.70 for 10. Feeling strapped for cash? Write to Heinz and have them send you an individual one for free.

8. Enough with opening the bathroom, errr I mean basement, door without knocking first. Give Mom the gift of a private moment this year. For under $100 treat Mom to a privacy screen for that “other” bathroom in the house. Out-of-towners learn here about the famous Pittsburgh basement toilet. The Today show even did a story on it. 9. Does it seem like the mother in your life is always running out of french fries for salads? Are your sandwiches frequently served sans frites? Get her a $9.99/ month subscription to Sheetz Fryz. Readers, this is a real thing. And while it might be self serving to get Mom a present that benefits you too, with a subscription, though the app, she will have access to fresh fries every 2 hours, and you have to imagine that sometimes she is going to order them just for herself.

10. Everyone knows the best things in life are free or if not free, at least from the heart. Cook Mom up something special this year. May I suggest a menu of chipped ham barbecue sandwiches, deep fried Pierogies, and a cool Arnold Palmer to wash it down. For dessert, get out that church cookbook that you inherited from your great-grandmother and try making a special sweet. Might I recommend a Burnt Sugar Cake or a classic Pineapple Upside-Down cake.

  1. It is very obvious that you are not from eastern PA. However, how was Mother’s Day anyway. I don’t think all those Pitts. Goodies can be gotten here in the east, but our ice cream stores and bakeries are GREATTT!

    1. But the thing is, is that the longer I live in Eastern PA, the more close I am getting to living here as long as I lived in western PA. Western PA still has more Katie years, but not by much any more 🙂
