Checking In this Fall: Touch-a-Truck Children’s Event at Indian Valley Public Library

Hi Everyone,

This fall has gone by in a whirlwind! Have you been noticing that as well?

I was recently looking through my photos of the adventures we have been having this fall and I realized that there are a number of things I haven’t shared. This week, I would like to post about some of those adventures. So lookout for multiple posts!

Back in September, we attended a Touch-a-Truck put together by the public library where I work, the Indian Valley Public Library. Let me tell you, it was a fantastic event and I am not just saying that because I work there. And I didn’t work there that day, I attended this event as a civilian.

Preschool Nugget loves trucks, so this event was a slam dunk for him. Mr. Man also had a great time because he likes checking stuff out and getting free “Swag” (his words) from all the community agencies that represented themselves at this event.

For the uninitiated, a Touch-a-Truck event is a program where community agencies like fire departments, police departments, sheriff’s offices bring their vehicles and children walk around and are allowed to touch them and sit in them. These types of events aim to help make children more comfortable with these types of workers and it is fun!

Mr. Man and I posed together near the entrance to the event.
The boys enjoyed some brother bonding time together.
Mr. Man loved running on the top of the flatbead truck
Mr. Man loved the flatbeck truck too. It was very popular with all the children in attendance.
This truck swing was a very big hit. My boys waited until the event was almost over to try it out since it had a line to get on almost all morning.
The garbage truck was all spiffed up for the events. Mr. Man didn’t mind touching it at all.
Preschool Nugget is out delivering the mail.

I hope Mr. Man never rides in the backseat.

Have you ever been to a Touch-a-Truck event? This was my first and it was a wonderful morning out.

  1. I’m glad to hear that the boys enjoyed the touch a truck so much. It does sound right up both of their alleys.
