Mr. Katie’s Adventure at the St. Luke’s Half Marathon

Here is a family picture after the race while we all enjoyed some post-race celebratory bean brownies provided by the race organizers.

Yesterday, Mr. Katie ran in Allentown’s St. Luke’s Half Marathon. He finished and did great! The music is wonderful, and the support is great. It is a good race. I am proud of him but more importantly, he is proud of himself. Now we can compare the finisher’s medals because I ran the same race last year. Here is the post about my experience running it.

But more about Mr. Katie.

Preschool Nugget and Mr. Katie holding hands after the race. The boys were very excited to see Mr. Katie.
Mr. Man was also very excited!

We both like to geek out on making/ buying cool shirts for runs that express some sentiment that we find inspiring.

Here is Mr. Katie’s race shirt. The words are a battle cry from the book series The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan.

The shirt that he ordered specially for the race said “Tai’shar Malkier“. It is a battle cry from the book series The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. He was very excited when a runner he saw during the race said the appropriate response to him “Tai’shar Manetheren” when they passed each other. That would be the best possible response to the phrase “Tai’shar Malkier“.

Next week Mr. Katie and I are planning on running in Philadelphia’s Broad Street Run together. This will be the first race that we will have run together since our very first race ever which was the 2014 Quakertown YMCA Cinco de Mayo 5k. That’s where it all started. We have ordered new shirts for next week’s occasion and I can’t wait to debut them to you after we finish next week.

If you are a prayer-saying person, keep us in your prayers next Sunday. I am a little nervous. I have never run in a race as large as the Broad Street Run and I am a little worried that I will get injured or infirmed.

I also feel very grateful that I will have this opportunity. So thank you to everyone who has supported me through the years and thank you to Aunt Liz for babysitting for us next weekend.

I also want to tell everyone that I will post online trivia Kahoot tomorrow night. April 25th!

Have a good week,

Katie
