My Spring Running Plans

Hi Friends,

I wanted to let you know about my spring running plans. I know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I wanted to invite you to join me for any part of this if you are interested.

Run Across America/ Daily Distance

First, I am participating in Run Across America. I wrote about how I have been doing Run Across America for over a year now in this post. Basically, it is an awesome app where participants record daily walks, runs, bike rides or preferred exercise. Users can join teams or start their own team. (I have a team, here is my code to join my team)

You get to post a picture of yourself from your exercise. I love the picture part. I look forward to posting my picture after my run. I try to make sure that I have a few minutes while I am cooling off to look at other people’s pictures. There is a new season every 2.5 months and participants get a new swag item like a shirt, hat or sunglasses. Also a portion of your Run Across America fee goes to Feeding America, a domestic hunger relief organization.

Here I am in my car after a Daily Distance Run.

Scoogie Events: Shake Your Shamrock 8K

On Sunday, March 13th I am running in the 8th Annual Shake Your Shamrock 8k in Lahaska, PA at Peddler’s Village. I have never participated in a Scoogie Event but Mr. Katie has now run two of their races and told me how much run they are. Mr. Katie ran in their Great Cupid Run last month wearing a shirt that I made him that said “No Regerts”.

For the Shake Your Shamrock race, I hope to make myself a shirt that says “Kiss Me, I’m 3% Irish”.

If you would like to join me, here is my coupon code. If you do join me, remember that March 13th is the morning of spring-forward so even though the race starts at 11 am, your body will think it is 10:00 am.

No Regerts! Get it?

and now the main event. . .

St. Luke’s Half Marathon

Because I needed a spring challenge, I signed up to run in the St. Luke’s Half Marathon in Allentown, PA. It will take place on Sunday, April 24th beginning at 8:10 AM. I am excited and a little intimidated. I have run the Lehigh & Delaware Half Marathon twice but that is a trail run and I have never participated in a run of this scale before. There is a 3 hour time limit to finish all 13.1 miles in the St. Luke’s Half Marathon. I should be able to hit that target as I have done that before in other runs but even so I am nervous that something might happen and I might not be able to finish on time.

Still it is exciting to try new things! The website for this race said that it is “fast and flat”, so that is promising!

I guess all I can do is train and hope for the best. I am not alone in my training because Mr. Katie is also training for the most intense run he has ever participated in before too. On Sunday, April 3rd he will be running in the Hair of the Bear 15K at Shawnee on Delaware in the Pocono Mountains. So we have been running hard and doing our best.

I hope you are all doing well too.

That’s all for now.

Much love,

Katie

  1. Sounds fun, Katie! I got an Apple Watch for Christmas, so now I just try to walk enough steps around my block a little bit at a time. It’s great. It tells me when I gotta stand up.

  2. Good luck on your races this spring! I can’t wait to see pictures and hear about it. I like Brendan’s “No Regerts” shirt. It’s pretty funny.
