The Week or So In Pictures

Hi Friends,

It’s been a minute! Sometimes when I am preparing this blog, I think to myself, “I don’t really have that much to share, we don’t actually do that much.” Then when I am compiling the pictures, I realize that we actually do many things. Also sometimes I worry that this blog will come off as braggy or self-indulgent but I think ultimately people want to know what I have been up to.

The weather has been getting nicer then retreating back to winter weather then getting nice again.

On Friday, March 11th, the weather was beautiful and Mr. Man had an in-service day at school, so we ventured to the Park-SCI playground in North Wales. It is a little out of our normal playground area but it is a great playground that we ended up visiting for the whole afternoon. It is a true destination playground!

Preschool Nugget loves the sandbox stocked with trucks and spent much of the afternoon playing there.
Both boys loved playing on this special swing, where the riders can face each other while swinging.
They really do love playing together. Mr. Man likes to bring a backpack filled with special treasures everywhere we go.

On the next day, Saturday, March 12th, we had a snow event. I had a haircut scheduled for that morning. I am sharing this picture so you can see how the weather changed on a dime. On March 11th, Preschool Nugget isn’t wearing shoes in one of the photos and on March 12th, I had trouble driving home from my haircut.

The weather turned quickly on Saturday, March 12th. When I left home for my haircut, I thought that I would not have any trouble driving but getting home that morning was dicey.

Mr. Katie smiled in this staged photo where he is trying to look very cultured. As you can see, he is reading the Atlantic while sipping brandy in a glass. The brandy was inherited.

Mr. Katie being classy. Just to give you an idea of how classy we are: Not long after this picture was taken we finished watching the MacGruber movie on Peacock. So classy! This was after we finished watching the MacGruber streaming show on Peacock. How I hope it is renewed for season 2!

We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day this week. Here is Mr. Man showing off his St. Patrick’s Day shirt. My mom liked the tradition of buying the boys St. Patrick’s Day shirts. (Mr. Katie’s mom also loved buying holiday shirts for the boys).

When I was a child, we had one family friend who was Irish and my mom always sent her a card. This friend was the only friend we knew who was of Irish descent. Thanks to DNA testing, my sister Liz found out that we are a little bit Irish on my mother’s side. My mother probably would have been pleased to find out that we were a little Irish all along!

Here is Mr. Man modeling his St. Patrick’s Day t-shirt from this year. Thanks Walmart! In case you are wondering, Preschool Nugget didn’t want to wear his shirt.

On Saturday, I worked at the library and Mr. Katie and the boys had a “Mens’ Day” as Mr. Man would call it. They dined at Taco Bell one of their favorite eateries and had some pretty intense playground-ing.

Taco Bell is a sometimes tradition on days when Mommy is working because it is a restaurant that Daddy likes but Mommy usually wouldn’t pick for herself. Photo credit: Brendan Nicholson

On Sunday, I participated in a Shake Your Shamrock 8K . Here is a picture of me modeling the shirt that I made for my run. I wrote about my plans to run this race previously in this post.

This is the shirt that I made for my Shake Your Shamrock 8K Run yesterday. I finished in 55:21 which might not be fast for some people but was fast enough for me.

The race was held near New Hope in the slightly hilly terrain near the Delaware River. If you ever find yourself near this area, you should defiantly check out the town of New Hope, PA. It is historic, trendy and has a lot of fun restaurants and shops as well as lovely scenery.

Here is a picture of the festivities yesterday in Peddler’s Village at the Scoogie Events Shake Your Shamrock 8K. Everyone was dressed to the 9’s. I am not sure how they even picked a costume contest winner as everyone was kind of over the top.
Here I am after the race, modeling my swag which included this tech shirt and my medal.

On Sunday, Mr. Katie put our corned beef and cabbage into the crock pot so we could have our Irish feast on Sunday night. I am not usually a fan of foodie pictures but I encouraged Mr. Katie to take this one.

Thank you for sharing my adventures! Have a great week.

  1. I love the pictures, Katie. And it sounds like your family had some fun adventures over the last week or so. Congrats on your race too!

  2. Terrific as usual- I love visiting with you all through photos- almost as good as being with you all. What I’ve really noticed is how much the boys have grown this winter! The quite amazing young men these days. Your St. Patrick’s day meal looked delicious. Love to you all.

    1. Hi Aunt Heidi,
We love you all too. The boys are both growing fast. They are tall for their age!
      Love ya,
      Katie

  3. That’s my park! We live a few blocks away. Let me know if you guys head that way again 🙂 I don’t go there too often though bc it’s hard to keep track of both kids there by myself. Such a maze! But Luke loves it! He and the boys would have a great time

    1. Hi Meghan, We will let you know! I hope all is good with you and your crew! Patrick and Henry would have fun with your little ones 🙂
