Hi You,

Are you looking to get back into reading? Are you looking for something that can be enjoyable but you don’t feel like you have to worry too much about the characters or what happens? I’ve got the book for you. It is called Daisy Jones and the Six written in 2019 by Taylor Jenkins Reid

II know, I know, you know about this book because it was a Netflix series last year. Forgive me, I’m behind the times. But stick with me here.

Here are the good parts of reading Daisy Jones and the Six.

Number one, the books is written in such a way that distance exists between you and the characters so that you don’t have to worry too much about them. I have a problem sometimes when I am reading that I almost feel too much for the characters and I get sad when they make bad decisions or bad things happen to them. I felt none of that for these characters. I could enjoy them and or judge them and it didn’t bother me at all. I could just enjoy myself. Distance can be a blessing

Secondly, this book is not a new story. Essentially, it is a fictionized version of the trials and tribulations of band much like Fleetwood Mac recording a seminal album like the Rumours album. The book is written in the form of interviews with the members of the band and people involved with the band. That makes it fun to read.

The book almost feels almost like it is 1997 thru1999 again and you are watching the Behind the Music episode about Fleetwood Mac that ran almost continuously on VH1 during that time.

So I say, give into it. Nostalgia is fun. Listen to the Rumours album. It’s pretty good. Enjoy the chaos.

Thirdly, if reading isn’t your thing but you want to give it a try anyway, give the audiobook a listen. The characters are all played by actors like: Jennifer Beals, Benjamin Bratt, Pablo Schreiber, and my favorite Judy Greer.

I took a half listening on headphones while I was walking and half reading approach myself. This can be a great way to make inroads with a book that you are unsure about.

What are you reading right now?
