What Has the Family Been Up to? First Week of Vacation Edition

I like to read slice of life blog posts because it is fun to read about what kinds of stuff other people are getting up to. I love to hear about people’s new hobbies or coffee shop obsessions. I love to hear about the mundane parts of people’s lives as much as the highlights that are often featured on social media.

The last day of school in our district was last Friday. Here is what we have been up to since then.

Last Thursday, right before the last day, we joined our scout troop for a tie-dye evening program. I took the shirts out of the plastic baggies where they were marinating in their dye and washed the shirts on Tuesday.

(It is recommended that you wait at least 12-24 hours before your rinse and wash a tie-dyed shirt.)

Here are the shirts that we created.

I have ironed them since taking the picture. I am going to try to encourage my family to all wear them on an adventure one day together. We are going to a concert on Saturday, maybe we could be the tie-dye family?

Here are our photos from the final day of school on Friday. The weather that day was in the low 90’s, not that you could tell from how Nugget was dressed.

They were very happy to be done with the school year.

The boys were dismissed at noon. Mr. Man was invited to a lunch time pool party at the house of one of his running coaches. After we picked him up from the party, the boys and I visited the local pool for a splash with some school friends.

We have been spending time bonding with Demi the dog.  She currently has Nugget’s slipper in her month as I write this blog. Since we have been home for the summer, the boys have been spending more time with her. I did not get a chance to take a picture of it, but last night she feel asleep in Nugget’s bed with his sleeping arm around her. Sometimes for fun, he likes to call Demi Max because he used to dream about having a dog named Max.

We signed up for the summer reading/ summer fun club at the local library and have been keeping track of our reading to earn prizes from the library and opportunities from Mom and Dad. Here is what we have been reading.

Finally, last weekend Nugget stayed home with me, and we attended a birthday party. Mr. Man traveled with Mr. Katie out-of-state to attend a graduation ceremony. (Photo credit for church photo belongs to Mr. Katie)

There are lots more adventures to had this summer. Some will be mundane, like keeping track of our summer reading and going to our camp physical (like we will be doing today). Others will be more exciting, like visiting Dorney Park and going to a concert this weekend. We are looking forward to them all!
